A lookout notice against two police drivers, who are accused of having links with the Malaparamba sex racket, will be issued soon. Police sources said the two — Shaijith of Perumanna and Sanith of Padanilam — were found absconding after they were arraigned in the case along with 10 others, including six women.

Though the police carried out flash inspections with the support of the Cyber Cell at several locations, the two remained untraceable. The police said the statements of some of their relatives had been recorded as part of the ongoing probe. Shaijith’s passport was also recovered from his home during the recent search, they added.

The two police officers and a non-resident Keralite identified as M.K. Animesh were arraigned in the case based on strong digital evidence. Their bank statements and call detail records were collected to verify suspected financial transactions and communications with one of the arrested women. Based on an internal investigation report, the two officers were immediately placed under suspension by the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City).

The suspected sex racket, which operated out of a rented facility near Malaparamba in the heart of the city, was busted on June 6. According to police sources, the special squad is in the process of collecting and analysing the call detail records of people suspected of exploiting the women. Three of the previously arrested women were interrogated again to verify newly gathered digital evidence related to the case.
