A 26-year-old land surveyor and dancer from Telangana was murdered barely a month after his wedding in a premeditated crime allegedly orchestrated by his wife and her lover. The victim, Tejeswar, was reported missing on June 18 and his body was later found in a canal in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district.

Investigation revealed that his wife, Aishwarya, 23, from Kurnool, conspired with her lover Tirumal Rao, a bank manager, to have her husband killed. Tirumal Rao allegedly paid ₹2 lakh to three men who approached him for loans, instructing them to kill Tejeswar. The plot was executed on the pretext of a land survey trip. While seated in the front of the car, Tejeswar was attacked, his throat slit and stomach stabbed, before his body was thrown into a canal.

Aishwarya And Tirumal Rao Had A Long Affair, Police Says

Police said Aishwarya and Tirumal Rao had been in a long-running affair. Between February and June, they exchanged over 2,000 phone calls, including several during her May 18 wedding to Tejeswar. His family had objected to the marriage, citing rumors of her involvement with Tirumal Rao, but Tejeswar went ahead after Aishwarya claimed she had vanished earlier due to dowry pressure from her mother and was now ready to marry him.

Tirumal Also Planned To Kill His Wife

Tirumal Rao, who is married and had no children, had also allegedly planned to murder his own wife. He is said to have had a brief affair with Aishwarya’s mother, Sujatha, a sweeper at his bank. Aishwarya filled in for her mother at work during an absence, which is when their affair reportedly began. Though Sujatha later opposed the relationship and pressured her daughter to marry Tejeswar, she had preliminary knowledge of the murder plot and has also been arrested.

‘Amma’ Tattoo Used To Identify Tejeswar’s Body

Eight people have been arrested so far, including Aishwarya, Tirumal Rao, Sujatha and Tirumal Rao’s father. According to SP T Srinivas Rao of Jogulamba Gadwal district, Tirumal Rao had taken a ₹20 lakh loan and booked tickets to flee to Ladakh with Aishwarya after the murder.

After Tejeswar went missing, CCTV footage helped trace his final movements. His body was identified via a tattoo on his arm that read “Amma" in Telugu. The police also used mobile tower data to locate the site of the murder.

“After killing him, they showed the body to Rao over a video call. They originally planned to bury him at a land layout site but dumped him in a canal after spotting people nearby. There wasn’t enough water in it, which helped us locate the body", police said, adding, “The plan was simple- kill the husband, wait it out and run. But the body showed up, and so did the truth."
