LSG dept. to organise “green ride” on Thursday

The Local Self-Government department will organise a “green ride” campaign on Thursday as part of the World Environment Day observance, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions.

As part of the campaign, employees of the department will use public transport and community vehicle pooling methods on the day for commuting to and from their offices.

The department has tied up with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to operate special electric bus services from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station at Thampanoor and connecting various bus stations for around 40 employees at the LSGD Principal Directorate office.

Prizes will be distributed to individuals and groups putting forward novel methods for reducing carbon emissions.
