Luka Doncic makes history in EuroBasket 2025 as teammate Edo Muric hails the NBA pro

Following his record-breaking triple-double against Belgium, former Slovenian captain Edo Muric sang the praises of Luka Doncic's relentless determination to win at everything. He further stated that despite all his success and records, the "wolf in him" drives him to desire even more.

The L.A. Lakers star just became the 5th man to record a triple-double in the tournament's history. In addition, he became the youngest player since Tony Parker in 2007 to surpass 400 EuroBasket points. Only Jaka Lakovic and Goran Dragic have accomplished this feat from Slovenia.

Luka Doncic shines with historic triple-double as Slovenia defeats Belgium in EuroBasket

After losing to France on Saturday, Slovenia quickly recovered to play Belgium in a back-to-back match on Sunday. Slovenia defeated the Belgians to earn their first victory in EuroBasket, led by a triple-double from Luka Doncic.He became the 5th player to do that and joined a selected group that also includes Mateusz Ponitka, Rares Mandache, Toni Kukoc, and Stojko Vrankovic. Edo Muric, a forward for Slovenia, told the media after the game:"I think that you know everything about this guy. He's breaking records, so this is not something that I didn't believe he could make… This is a normal day in the office for him, and I'm glad for him. But I'm even more glad that today we showed that we can play good defense and that we won this game.”

As Edo Muric has known him for a long time, he observed: "He's an amazing competitor, not just in basketball. Even when I play cards with him, when we play cards together, when we do any kind of video games, sports, he just wants to win. Even if I'm a very good friend of his, he's not happy when I win, because he wants to win in everything, and I think this is what he has special in him. He's hungry, even though he's 26 years old.”

Slovenian basketball had a historic day. Luka Doncic led Slovenia to its initial victory at FIBA EuroBasket 2025. Further talking abut him, Edo Muric said:"He makes 5 All-NBA teams. He has 73 points and all of that, but he's still hungry.

He wants more, more, and more. This wolf in him is what makes him great.. A lot of players would be satisfied: I'm this, I'm that, but he's not. He can do even more, and he is going for that, and this is what makes him special."In the press conference after the game, Aleksander Sekulic, Slovenian senior national team selector, said:“That’s what Luka does… The thing is that I saw he made a triple-double, but what impresses me is the way he approached this game, knowing that we are a better team with better individuals.

Even though he never underestimated anyone and he was locked in from the first to last minute. That only just shows the greatness, not only the stats but his mindset.”

After losing, Belgium’s head coach Dario Gjergja gave an explanation of why he wanted the Los Angeles Lakers star to score more points. He said: “For me, I prefer he scored 50, to be honest.. I prefer 50, but the others don’t execute. Because he is capable, and nevermind about the quality around him. This is why he is a superstar. If he has players who are decent from the range, he will make them much better.”Mr. Doncic performed really well in the match.
