NEW DELHI: Police in Kolkata have launched a search operation for a mother and son who allegedly detained and assaulted a 23-year-old woman at their residence in Domjur, Howrah district, for refusing to act in a pornographic film.
The victim, from Sodepur in North 24 Parganas district, is currently receiving treatment at the College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital.The accused pair, who ran an event management agency as a front, are currently absconding. Police are investigating whether they were operating a pornography film racket.Police sources revealed that the duo also operated a film production house where soft pornographic content was produced.
They would target young women seeking employment by offering attractive salaries."Initial probe has revealed that they used to lure young girls looking for employment under the pretext of a good salary and then force them to take part in films with pornographic content," stated a police officer.The accused woman was also allegedly operating a sex racket in the area, which is under investigation.The victim described the mother as the primary tormentor during her captivity.
"I want the police to arrest the woman. She used to torture me the most. She used to beat me while this guy, her son, used to watch that from a distance," the victim stated.The woman had initially connected with the accused son through Facebook last year. He had promised her employment at his residence.According to the police complaint filed by the victim's parents at Khardah police station, when she visited their Domjur residence to discuss the job opportunity, both mother and son allegedly assaulted her after failing to convince her to become a bar dancer.
They then forced her to perform domestic work."The accused woman and her son are absconding and a search for them has been launched. We are trying to probe whether they were running any pornography film racket in the veil of running an event management agency," said an officer of Howrah City Police.The victim also reported that the accused had confiscated her mobile phone during her detention.
