A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently signed to implement a comprehensive rural development programme in eight villages under the Male Mahadeshwara Hills gram panchayat, as part of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement’s (SVYM) ASHA initiative.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Zilla Panchayat CEO Mona Rauth, and SVYM CEO Savitha Sulugodu. Supported by Siemens Technology and Services Pvt. Ltd., the initiative that began in October 2024 aims at improving the lives of nearly 3,500 residents in the region.
It will focus on key development sectors including education, healthcare, water conservation, non-agricultural livelihood promotion, and skill development for youth, with a special focus on remote and underserved communities.
Ms. Nag emphasised the importance of collaboration to achieve impactful outcomes.
Ms. Sulugodu expressed confidence that the organisation’s four-decade-long experience in grassroots development combined with government support will bring meaningful change.
