BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav has exhorted the office-bearers of the frontal organisations to strive for strengthening the party by consolidating the gains achieved in recent years, and to focus on local issues while banking on the welfare schemes being implemented by the Centre and the support being extended by it for the development of Andhra Pradesh (AP).
Addressing a meeting of the party’s State level office-bearers in Vijayawada on Friday, Mr. Madhav said the leaders and cadres must be accessible to the people in order to solve their problems, while stressing the importance of the ‘Spandana’ programme being conducted in the district headquarters on Mondays for the stated purpose.
He suggested that the party’s ‘Mana Jenda… Mana Uru’ (Our Flag… Our Village) programme should be continued throughout the year, wherein the BJP flags should be hoisted in every village, and the good being done by it explained to the people.
He also called upon the leaders to organise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in as many educational institutions as possible, noting that A.P. found mention in the PM’s speeches in 40 out of 118 episodes so far.
Further, Mr. Madhav said that Mr. Modi pointed out during their interaction (after the former has been unanimously elected the party’s State president) that the BJP had the potential to grow on its own in A.P., provided concerted efforts were made like in Karnataka and Gujarat, where it was initially very weak compared to other parties.
Swadeshi movement
He wanted the Swadeshi movement to be given a fillip to counter the impact of the steep tariffs imposed by the U.S. As part of it, the BJP would organise a ‘Swadeshi Vasthu Bhandagar’(an exhibition of Made-in-India products) on October 2.
Earlier, Mr. Madhav and other leaders paid tributes to noted Telugu linguist Gidugu Venkata Rama Murthy on the occasion of his birth anniversary, and stressed the need to highlight his works and that of other stalwarts like Viswanadha Satyanarayana to the present generation.
BJP national joint general secretary (organization) Shiv Prakash, Health Minister and BJP national secretary Y. Satya Kumar, MP Daggubati Purandeswari, MLC Somu Veerraju, and MLAs C. Adinarayana Reddy, V. Parthasarathy, N. Eswara Rao were among those present.
