Before Aamir Khan became Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist and Madhuri Dixit earned her title as the Dhak Dhak girl, the two lit up screens with their sizzling chemistry in the 1990 blockbuster Dil. But while the film became a cult favourite, what many don’t know is that a hilarious behind-the-scenes moment nearly sparked a war—complete with a hockey stick.

During his appearance on Farhan Akhtar’s talk show Oye! It’s Friday, Aamir recalled a prank he once played on Madhuri Dixit while shooting Dil. Pretending to read her palm, he delivered a series of dramatic lines about her being emotional and gullible—only to end the act by suddenly spitting on her hand as a joke. Unsurprisingly, the prank didn’t go down well, and Madhuri was left furious.The superstar prank didn’t land as expected—when he spat on Madhuri’s hand during the fake palm reading, she was furious.

In fact, she grabbed a hockey stick and chased him around the set in anger. Madhuri later confirmed the incident, admitting she had indeed chased Aamir during the shoot of Dil.In a 2016 Ask Me Anything session on Twitter, Madhuri Dixit was asked about the naughtiest thing she’s ever done. She recalled the infamous incident with a laugh, saying it was chasing Aamir Khan with a hockey stick on the sets of Dil after he played a prank on her—a moment that has since become part of Bollywood lore.

Despite the success of Dil, Madhuri and Aamir shared screen space only once more—in Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin, which also released in 1990. After that, both stars went on to rule the '90s with separate blockbuster careers. Madhuri delivered iconic performances in films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! with Salman Khan and Dil Toh Paagal Hai alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Meanwhile, Aamir shined in hits like Rangeela and Raja Hindustani, cementing his place among Bollywood’s top actors.
