BHOPAL: A 17-year-old Class 12 student allegedly ended his life by jumping in front of a train in Dabra region of Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday evening after losing Rs 35,000 in an online game, police said.The body of the victim, identified as Vikas Rawat of Hatheda village, Shivpuri was found in a mutilated condition on the railway tracks near the goods warehouse in Dabra yard. He had parked his motorcycle on the down main line before the incident.According to police, Vikas had spoken to his family over the phone shortly before the incident, telling them he would return home — but never did.Initially treated as a routine suicide case, the investigation on Wednesday revealed that the teenager had suffered heavy losses in an online game.
The exact game is yet to be identified. His mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination.Police said Vikas had passed his Class 12 exams this year. His father, Udaybhan Rawat, is a farmer. Vikas was the only son, with two sisters. His cousin runs a kiosk centre in the village where Vikas often spent time. It was here that he developed a gaming addiction, police said, reports local media.On Sunday he had borrowed Rs 30,000 from a villager — believed to be part of the amount he lost online. Investigations are on.
