Ahmedabad: A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly running an illegal cricket betting racket centred on the upcoming T20 final scheduled for Sunday.Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team raided a rented house at Municipal No.

14 in the Hansol area of Sardarnagar. The operation was executed while the Qualifier-1 T20 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans was under way.The accused is a native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, who was operating from the rented premises, police said, adding, “He was accepting and placing illegal wagers on match outcomes for financial gain.”Officers seized betting-related items, including a laptop, a tablet, five mobile phones, a keyboard, a foolscap notebook used for records, a debit card, four identity cards, a bag and a power bill. The total value of the seized property was estimated at Rs 4.15 lakh.A case has been registered at DCB Police Station, Part-B, under Gambling Act Sections 4 and 5. Police said another accused, also from Indore, is currently absconding.
