Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa paid a surprise visit to Kittur Rani Chennamma residential school at Begur in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district on Sunday.

Mr. Mahadevappa inspected the rooms for cleanliness and toilets for hygiene. He interacted with the students about the facilities available in the school and the hostel.

He enquired the students about the quality and taste of food, and sought to know about the quality of the work of teachers in the school.

The Minister inspected the dining hall and the storeroom in the hostel. During his interaction with the staff and students, Mr. Mahadevappa said a large number of children from rural areas attend the school. Hence, the wardens should take adequate care of the children.

He instructed the staff to ensure that meals and snacks are served according to the menu chart.

Mr. Mahadevappa instructed the teachers to stay in the residential quarters, and asked the staff to pay attention to the health of the children. Teachers should provide quality education to the children, he said, adding that they should be encouraged to participate more in extracurricular activities.

He advised the officials to take steps necessary to conduct yoga classes, exercises, and meditation for the students.

Assistant Commissioner Mahesh and others were present on the occasion.
