Mahalaya 2025 to spotlight the fierce avatars of Durga

This Mahalaya, audiences will wake up to a powerful new interpretation of the Goddess as the focus turns to her Shongharkari Roop — the fierce and protective manifestations of Maa Durga. The show will bring together music, dance, drama, and narration to recreate the timeless call of “Jago Ma Jago Durga.”The theme portrays Durga as the eternal protector — rescuing women from injustice, destroying arrogance, and dispelling ignorance. Through breathtaking visuals and evocative performances, the narrative celebrates resilience, empowerment, and the triumph of good over evil.

An ensemble cast embodies the many forms of the Goddess: Shweta Bhattacharya as Durga, Ishani Chatterjee as Bhadrakali, Tanishka Tiwari as Gandheswari, Divyani Mondal as Tripura Sundari, Aratrika Maity as Kaushiki, Anwesha Hazra as Jagaddhatri, and Mohona Maiti as Kali.

Actress Idhika Paul takes on a special dual role, portraying both Parvati and Mahishasurmardini, with the climactic battle against Mahishasura forming the centrepiece.

Ranojoy Bishnu appears as Shiva, while Rubel Das plays Mahishasura, heightening the intensity of the cosmic duel.The show is a tribute to the divine feminine, combining cultural nostalgia with contemporary themes of women’s empowerment.
