South Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, currently working on his next big outing with S. S. Rajamouli, is gearing up to celebrate his acting legacy of 46 years this November. His first film as a child actor, Needa, was released on November 29, 1979, and to mark this milestone, the makers of his 2012 blockbuster 'Businessman' have announced a 4K re-release worldwide on November 29, 2025.
About 'Businessman'
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film follows a man arriving in Mumbai with the ambition to dominate the city’s underworld, driven by a deep resentment toward corruption. The story credits Ram Gopal Varma for the concept. The 2012 cast included Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj, and Nassar alongside Mahesh Babu. Made on an estimated budget of ₹ 40 crore, it grossed more than ₹ 90 crore worldwide upon its original release at Sankranti.
Re-Release Strategy and previous runs
This isn't the first time Businessman has returned to theaters.
In August 2023, on Mahesh Babu’s 48th birthday, the film was re-released and reportedly collected about ₹ 5.5 crore on the first day. The new 2025 edition is expected to feature upgraded 4K visuals and remastered audio for old and new audiences alike.Re-releases of Mahesh Babu’s films have become a growing trend. Earlier this year, on May 30, 2025, his film 'Khaleja' was re-released and earned about ₹ 13 crore, which clearly highlights the franchise’s fan base even after so many years.
The re-release of 'Businessman' is yet another opportunity to celebrate the true stardom of the actor and the film’s iconic status.As November 29 approaches, fans of Mahesh Babu are gearing up to revisit 'Businessman' on the big screen—this time in its digitally refreshed avatar.In the meantime, Vijay Sethupathi, Tabu, and Samyuktha are the main actors in Puri Jagannadh's upcoming movie. The movie, which does not yet have a title, is being planned as a huge pan-Indian production.
