Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud condemned BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s recent remarks urging voters to “take ₹5,000 from the Congress and vote for BRS”, calling it an “undemocratic and unethical act”, and demanded that the Election Commission immediately file a case against KTR.

Addressing a press conference at the party office in Yousufguda on Saturday, along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and former MLAs Sampath Kumar and E. Anil, he said that KTR was brazenly violating all the norms of decency in electoral politics to blame the Congress while forgetting that their 10-year rule had destroyed Telangana.

He said that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have a secret understanding in the Jubilee Hills bypoll, and voting for BRS would mean voting for BJP.

Mr. Goud alleged that the BJP had fielded a weak candidate in Jubilee Hills as part of a covert deal with the BRS. “BRS helped BJP win eight seats in the LS elections, and in return, the BJP is now helping the BRS,” he said.

He further said that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had supported the NDA government on several crucial issues, from the Presidential elections to the Triple Talaq Bill, showing his long-standing alignment with the BJP. “Every major decision of the NDA government had KCR’s hidden hand,” he alleged.

BRS has no respect for democracy, he said and recalled how it ran the government for five years without a single woman minister. It was a “disgraceful chapter in Telangana’s political history,” he said. Mr. Goud said people were with the Congress as it had implemented the majority of the promises made before the elections.
