Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, known for her blunt remarks, stirred a massive row after she said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's head should be chopped off for failing to check the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis into India.
Speaking to reporters in Bengal's Nadia district, Moitra said border security was the responsibility of the Home Ministry and Amit Shah cannot shirk its responsibility and blame the TMC government for infiltration - a hot-button topic ahead of the 2026 Assembly election.
A video of Moitra's interaction with reporters in Bengali has gone viral, inviting strong condemnation from the BJP. A complaint has also been filed against the Krishnanagar MP.
"He (Amit Shah) keeps saying infiltrators, infiltrators, infiltrators. The border is protected by forces that come under the Home Ministry," Moitra said.
