Malavika Jayaram, daughter of veteran actor Jayaram and sister of actor Kalidas Jayaram, has clarified why she never pursued a career in films, despite belonging to one of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated families.Speaking at the muhurat pooja ceremony of her father’s upcoming film 'Aashakal Aayiram', where Jayaram and Kalidas will share screen space after a long gap, Malavika candidly addressed questions about her absence from cinema.

'not because of marriage'

Malavika made it clear that marriage was never the reason behind her decision to stay away from acting. “I have never thought about acting in films. It’s not because I got married that I didn’t act. Even before marriage, I never entered films. So, after marriage too, I haven’t thought of it that way,” she said.Though she chose not to follow in her father and brother’s footsteps, Malavika has carved her own path in modeling and academics.

She pursued a master’s degree in Sports Management from the UK.

Reflecting on her father and brother sharing screen space in 'Aashakal Aayiram', Malavika expressed pride and joy. “Since both Appa (father) and Kannan (Kalidas) are acting together, I feel there’s no need for me to step in. Even at home, they share a great combination,” she said. She recalled the 2003 film 'Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum', where Jayaram and a young Kalidas acted together.

“Watching them together even now gives me the same vibe as back then. You cannot compare Appa and Kannan. They are two different individuals, and their approach towards cinema is also very different. When these two distinct personalities come together, there’s a special magic,” she shared.Malavika attended the event with her husband Navaneeth, a Chartered Accountant based in the UK.On the other hand, veteran actor Jayaram made his massive comeback in Mollywood with the superhit film 'Abraham Ozler' which was directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The actor was last seen in the Tamil film 'Retro'.
