West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday received the enumeration form for the Special Intensified Revision (SIR) of the voter list from the Booth Level Officer (BLO) of her booth at her Kalighat residence in Kolkata.

According to sources, the BLO personally visited Banerjee’s residence to serve the form as part of the ongoing SIR process, which began on Tuesday. The Chief Minister met the BLO in person, and the form was submitted at her residential office, confirmed by family members. The BLO is expected to collect the form once it is filled.

In a notable incident, the BLO initially refused to hand over the enumeration form to anyone other than the Chief Minister, citing Election Commission rules. After a brief exchange with security personnel, he was allowed to enter Banerjee’s office following a security check. The Chief Minister received the form herself and assured the BLO that her office would inform him once the form was ready for collection.

A day earlier, on Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee had led a massive rally in Kolkata against the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls. The Trinamool Congress, led by Banerjee, has alleged that the revision drive is a form of “silent, invisible rigging” by the BJP-led central government in collusion with the Election Commission.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP during the rally, Banerjee said, “Many unorganised sector workers are thinking whether their names will be removed. Talking in Bangla does not mean Bangladeshi, just like speaking in Hindi or Punjabi does not mean Pakistani. Whoever is talking in Bangla is branded as Bangladeshi. These idiots who have not fought the freedom fight... where was BJP at that time? That is why they don’t know that India, Bangladesh and Pakistan were part of the same land before independence.”
