Fans are disappointed as the much-anticipated Mammootty-Khalid Rahman gangster film has reportedly been dropped by producers Cubes Entertainments. The production house has removed all social media posts related to the project, fueling speculation. While another film with Mammootty is rumored, clarity on the dropped project's future remains elusive.
The much talked about Mammootty film which was to be directed by Khalid Rahman, has now been speculated to have dropped. This news which was confirmed by Cinema Express website comes just a month after the project was officially announced.
The film was supposed to be produced by Cubes Entertainments who has bankrolled the superhit film 'Marco'. Fans were excited about this pairing because Mammootty and Khalid Rahman had earlier worked together in 'Unda'. That film was loved by both critics and the audience. Because of that success many expected their new film to be something big. But now things have suddenly changed and the project is reportedly no longer moving forward under the same banner.
Producers remove recent posts
Reports say that Cubes Entertainments has decided to opt out of the project. The banner has removed all posts related to the film’s announcement linked with Khalid Rahman from their official social media pages except the initial announcement poster. This move has raised many questions among fans. When all posts disappear like this it usually means the project is no longer happening as planned. It is also being said that the production house will instead be making another film with Mammootty.
However there is no clear update yet on what that new project will be about or when it will start.
What the film was supposed to be
The dropped project was said to be a gangster film. Naslen was also reportedly part of the cast. But now there is no clarity on whether this film will ever be made. It is not clear if another production banner will take it up or if it will be shelved completely.Announcement that created big buzzMammootty himself had shared the announcement on his Facebook page just a month back.
Along with a glimpse from the film, he wrote, “Happy to announce my collaboration with #CubesEntertainments on our upcoming project, directed by #KhalidRahman.”The glimpse came as a motion poster showing two guns. This instantly gave the feeling that the film would be a full-on action movie. Many even felt it would be similar in style and mood to 'Marco'.At the same time, Mammootty is busy with other work. He has recently started shooting for Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Padayaatra. While fans are happy to see him active and working with top directors, the sudden dropping of the Khalid Rahman project has left many disappointed. For now there is no official word on whether the Mammootty–Khalid Rahman film will return in a new form.
