The HAL police in Bengaluru arrested a 26-year-old private firm employee on Friday for stabbing the relative of a woman he had befriended on Instagram after he was advised to stop stalking her.
The accused, identified as Selva Karthik from Krishnagiri, was working as a sales executive at private vehicle manufacturing company in Hosur, and had befriended a married woman from Kaggadasapura a few months ago, with whom he used to chat online. The woman later stopped communicating with him. Irked by this, Karthik started threatening her.
The victim narrated the ordeal to her father, who called Karthik and warned him to stay away. However, Karthik reportedly came to the city on Thursday on the pretext of talking with the woman.
Following this, Shekar V., the father of the woman, along with his brother-in-law Prashanth and son-in-law Shiva went to Malleshpalya in order to bring Karthik along with them.While Prashanth was riding one scooter with Karthik as pillion, Shekhar and Shiv were on another scooter. Karthik allegedly stabbed Prashanth on his neck from the back. The injured Prashanth was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated.
Based on a complaint by Shekhar, the HAL police registered a case of attempt to murder against Karthik, tracked him down, and arrested him from a hotel where he had stopped to have lunch.
