Man bludgeons stepmother to death in Dumka

Dumka: A 50-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death by her stepson after a heated argument at their home at a village in Masaliya block on Wednesday. The accused Raju Pujhar (32), an alleged alcoholic, however, did not flee and was seated next to his stepmother’s corpse at the time of his arrest, the police said on Thursday.Mongli Pujharni, a resident of Sarmalia Tola of Tarini village was allegedly hit on the head with a heavy wooden stick, leading to her death on the spot, following an argument late in the afternoon. Mongli’s husband and other family members were away at the time of the incident.Gurucharan Manjhi, the officer-in-charge of Tongra police station limits, said, “Raju, in his statement to the police, said Mongli often abused his children. This infuriated him.” Mongli’s body was taken to Phulo Jhano Medical College in Dumka for postmortem examination while Raju was placed in judicial custody on Thursday, Manjhi said.
