Man climbs tree to steal jackfruit, rescued by police

A drunk man who sneaked into a residential apartment near the city Police Commissioner’s office and climbed up a tree to steal jackfruits was ironically rescued by the police on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, the man, who was under the influence of alcohol, ventured into the apartment complex, hoodwinking the security, and climbed up the tree. While crawling on the branch to reach the jackfruits, he lost balance and started dangling, raising an alarm for help. Residents of the apartment alerted the security and the police.

The police, who rushed to the spot, arranged a tarpaulin and saved him after he fell from 40 feet. He was in shock, and the police offered him water and took him to the Bowring hospital.

The police are trying to ascertain his identity.
