A 45-year-old labourer was clubbed to death allegedly by two of his younger brothers over sharing the pension amount of their mother, at Melya village in the Gouribidanur police station limits on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Narasimhamurthy.

According to the police, the father of the siblings, Hanumantharayappa, was a Bescom employee. After his death, his wife was receiving pension. The trio, who worked as construction labourers, stayed with their mother. Their wives and children had left them due to their addiction to alcohol.

The accused used to pick fights with each other every month to get a share of the pension. On Thursday, they had a heated argument with Narasimhamurthy, objecting to the bigger share he was getting. In the melee, Rama, 39, and Gangadharappa, 37, ganged up and attacked Narasimhamuthy with a club and killed him on the spot, the police said.

The police arrested Rama and Gangadharappa were arrested on charges of murder.
