Gurgaon: A 26-year-old man died on Wednesday night, days after a truck rammed into his motorcycle near M3M Mall in Sector 77.The victim, Sumit, was a resident of Shikohpur village. According to a complaint filed by Sumit’s brother Ravinder, the incident took place around 11pm on March 30. Sumit was riding his motorcycle when a truck, allegedly being driven rashly and at high speed, hit the bike from behind and fled the spot.“Bystanders chased the truck and intercepted it near Banwari Chowk, but the driver escaped, leaving the vehicle behind,” the complainant said.Sumit was thrown off the motorcycle due to the impact. He was taken to a private hospital in Manesar and later shifted to SGT Hospital in Budhera, where he died during treatment.In his complaint, Ravinder alleged that the truck was not taken into custody by the police even after several days and alleged that the owner of the vehicle took it from the spot.Police, however, maintained that information about the accident was received on March 30, but when a team reached the spot, neither the vehicle nor the injured person was found. The next day, police traced him to a hospital in Manesar and collected medico-legal records. He was later shifted to another hospital, where he was declared unfit to give a statement.A case was registered at Kherki Daula police station on April 1 under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(b) (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety). After his death, Section 106 (causing death by negligence) was added. Police said they are examining CCTV footage from the area and efforts are underway to identify the owner and the driver of the truck.
