A 52-year-old man reportedly ended his life at his home in HUDA Colony, Chandanagar, on Sunday, allegedly after being cheated of ₹13 lakh by his former employer from Kerala.

The deceased, identified as Kasi Reddy Purushotham Reddy, had previously worked as a driver for Jai Kumar Santhamma Rajan Babu, a resident of Kerala. According to a complaint lodged by his son, Kasi Reddy Harinath Reddy, 23, his father had lent ₹13 lakh to Rajan Babu about seven years ago, which was never repaid despite repeated requests. The amount, an officer from the Chandanagar police said, had been borrowed by Purushotham Reddy from others.

“On October 26, at around 5.30 p.m., Harinath Reddy received a call from his brother-in-law, B. Dinesh Kumar Reddy, informing him that his father had hanged himself. By the time he reached home, 108 ambulance staff had already placed the body on the bed,” said the officer.

Purushotham Reddy had left his job with Rajan Babu three months ago and shifted to Hyderabad, hoping to find new employment and relocate his family. A case has been registered based on the complaint, and further investigation is underway.
