A 25-year-old man was hacked to death inside the Trichy police quarters in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. The incident has raised serious concerns over the law and situation in the state. The murder took place on the same day that Chief Minister MK Stalin was in the city for official engagements.

The deceased has been identified as Thamaraichelvan. He was a real estate businessman, hailing from Bheemanagar. He was reportedly chased by a five-member gang near Marsingpet. In a desperate attempt to escape, he ran into the newly built police quarters nearby, seeking refuge. However, the attackers followed him inside and assaulted him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

Police personnel from Palakkarai Police Station rushed to the spot soon after receiving information. The area was cordoned off, and the body was sent to the Trichy Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and multiple teams have been formed to track down and arrest the suspects.

Senior police officials have also stepped up patrolling and security checks across key locations in Trichy to prevent further incidents. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the culprits and trace their movements before and after the crime.

BJP Attacks CM Stalin

The murder has triggered strong political reactions, with opposition leaders slamming the ruling government for the deteriorating law and order situation.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai posted a scathing statement on X, saying, “Under the DMK government, not a single day passes in Tamil Nadu without a murder. Law and order have completely collapsed. In a shocking incident this morning, a man was hacked to death inside the police residential quarters at Bheemanagar, Trichy — an area surrounded by schools. This has raised serious concerns about public safety."

He further added, “Chief Minister MK Stalin is currently staying in Trichy. Even as he is in the city, such a gruesome murder has taken place inside a police quarters — this shows the pathetic state of law and order in Tamil Nadu. Today, women, senior citizens, and children — no one feels safe in this state. The Chief Minister, who is also in charge of the police department, has completely lost control over law and order. His inability to ensure safety has become a curse for Tamil Nadu."

Meanwhile, the police have assured that strict action will be taken and the perpetrators will be caught soon. The investigation is ongoing.
