Man hacked to death over loan in Bailhongal

A man hacked another to death in a Belagavi village after the latter failed to repay a debt of ₹2,000 on time.

The body of 30-year-old Manjunath Goudar was found on the outskirts of Giriyala village in Bailhongal taluk on Sunday night.

His 32-year-old acquaintance Dayanand Gundlur hacked him to death with an axe following an altercation. the police said.

Dayanand had come looking for Manjunath seeking repayment of a loan of ₹2,000 that he had given a week ago.

Manjunath sought more time to repay it and the two began to fight. It culminated with the murder, the police said.

A case has been registered in the Bailhongal Police Station.
