Man Invites Lover At Odisha Lodge To Kill Her, Then Surrendered To Cops

The accused allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death after an argument over marriage. He surrendered to police and the investigation is ongoing.

In shocking case of murder reported from Odisha’s Berhampur, woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her lover. The accused invited over the girl to a lodge and upon murdering her he surrendered to police. As per the police, Abhaya killed his girlfriend after an argument over their marriage.

The deceased has been identified as Priya Kumari Moharana, while the accused is 24-years-old Abhaya Kumar Moharana, a resident of Lanjipalli area. The police also told that the duo had visited this lodge thrice.

“The accused has been arrested. We are investigating the reason. We have sent the body for post-mortem examination," Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M told PTI. He further said that preliminary inquiry has revealed that the couple had gone to the same lodge thrice. “We are investigating the matter," the SP added.

As per the report, Abhaya checked into a lodge near the New Bus Stand around 11:30 am on Tuesday. While Priya checked in a little later. The couple spent some time together before Abhaya allegedly stabbed her multiple times around 3 pm, causing her death.

After the incident, the accused went to City Hospital for treatment of an injury on his hand. Later on, he went to Gosaninuagaon police station and surrendered. Victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem and the accused is being questioned.

In another incident, a man in Madhyra Pradesh’s Bhopal allegedly killed his live-in partner in a fit of rage, put her body in a sack, and reportedly kept to it for two days and lived with it. The incident took place in on June 27 after the couple got into an argument.

Shilpa Kaurav, SHO, Bajaria Police Station, told PTI the victim has been identified as Ritika Sen, who was in a live-in relationship with the accused, Sachin Rajput. “The victim, Ritika Sen, was in a live-in relationship with the accused, Sachin Rajput. She was a working professional, and the couple was living in a rented accommodation. On the night of Friday, the 27th, the two got into an argument. In a fit of rage, Sachin allegedly strangled her to death and wrapped her body in a sack. The accused later called his friend while intoxicated and confessed to the crime," SHO Kaurav was quoted by PTI as saying.

After wrapping Ritika’s body in a sack, Sachin reportedly kept it on the bed and remained with the body for two whole days.
