Man Kills Himself After Shooting Girlfriend Over Failed Relationship In Jhansi. They Were Together For 7 Years

A man opened fire on his girlfriend of seven years in broad daylight outside Bundelkhand University in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which shook the passersby to the core, happened on Sunday, November 9, at around 2 PM. He reportedly shot the girl first before he killed himself. The man died on the spot, while the woman is currently in critical condition.

According to a report by Bhaskar English, the incident took place near the university gate. After the shots were fired, passersby quickly rushed to the scene to find them lying on the road. Then they immediately placed both the man and the woman in an autorickshaw and rushed them to Jhansi Medical College. Doctors declared the man dead on arrival, while the woman is receiving treatment and is said to be out of danger.

He Shot Her In The Chest

Police identified the man as Manish Sahu, 26, a resident of Talabpura locality in Lalitpur. The critically injured student has been identified as Kritika, 22, also from the same neighbourhood in Lalitpur. She is a first-year MBA student at the university. According to reports, both were seen taking a walk on the footpath while eating something, when all of a sudden, Manish pulled out a country-made gun and shot Kritika in the chest. Then, he shot himself in the forehead with the same gun.

Just hours before the incident, a Facebook account with the username Kritika Choubey posted a reel featuring clips of Kritika and Manish, edited to a Bollywood song.

He Tried To Persuade Her, But She Didn’t Budge

Meanwhile, the aforementioned media outlet reported that Manish had married another woman a year ago under family pressure, which created a rift between him and Kritika. She distanced herself from him and even blocked him. Later, he decided to separate from his wife within two months of their marriage, and officially divorced her three months ago. Following this, he tried to reconcile with Kritika.

On the seventh anniversary of their relationship, he asked Kritika to meet him for one last time. Not knowing his intentions, she agreed. The two had a meal at a nearby restaurant, where Manish tried to persuade her, but she did not budge.

Once they were on their way back to the university campus, he shot her at close range and then himself. Hostel security has informed the police that Manish tried to enter the hostel two days before the incident. Police investigations are underway.
