A 35-year-old man committed suicide after allegedly killing two of his minor sons by poisoning them in Andhra Pradesh’s Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district following harassment by a group of locals.
The victim, identified as P Kamaraju, was reportedly being harassed by a group of locals over some unidentified issues. As a result, he came under stress, and gave poison to his minor children before hanging himself at 3 am on Wednesday.
The man was living with his sons after his wife committed suicide nearly six years ago following some unidentified dispute.
The local police have registered a case and are investigating from all the possible angles to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step by the man.
Rahul Meena, a senior police officer in the state, told media that the police further investigation into the matter is underway.
“We have preliminary information that the person (Kamaraju) was being harassed by a few persons. His wife had also died by suicide six years ago, following some dispute. However, the exact cause of Kamaraju’s suicide has to be verified,” Meena said.
The event triggered the memories of another incident, where an auto driver from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur killed himself after poisoning two of his sons. The man named Sheikh Yousuf was married to Saida Bee and was going through financial difficulties, which often resulted in frequent arguments with his wife. As a result, the man killed his two sons and later committed suicide.
