The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested Deepak, a resident of Faridkot, Punjab, in connection with the November 2024 crude bomb attack outside clubs in Chandigarh, including one owned by singer and rapper Badshah. Police said Deepak was in constant contact with gangster Goldy Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the blasts. The arrest was made in Delhi.
The explosions occurred on November 26 last year outside Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by Badshah, and De Orra Club, owned by local businessmen. CCTV footage showed a man throwing crude bombs before fleeing on a motorcycle with an accomplice. The blasts shattered glass windows but caused no injuries.
The site is located barely 100 metres from the Sector 26 police station, raising serious security concerns. Sector 26 police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosives Act, and investigators have been reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track all suspects.
Days after the attack, two other accused, identified as Vinay and Ajit Sehrawat, were arrested following an encounter in Haryana’s Hisar district during a joint operation by the Chandigarh Police and the Haryana Special Task Force (STF). Both men sustained leg injuries in the exchange of fire and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Hours after the blasts, Goldy Brar, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly claimed responsibility in a social media post. Police say they are investigating the extent of his role in directing the attack.
