Joint teams of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended a man impersonating a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Tirupati railway station, who was demanding fines from passengers.
The accused, identified as Parvesh Shah from Kodungaiyur, Chennai, was found in a heated argument with a passenger at Gate No. 3. When RPF Inspector Sandeep Kumar and GRP Inspector Aseervadam questioned them, the passenger stated that the ‘TTE’ had already collected ₹500 for ticketless travel and was demanding an additional ₹500.
Suspicious of his behaviour, the officers asked Shah to produce his identity card, which revealed that he was an impostor sustaining himself through such fraudulent activities. He was reportedly known to stand at crowded gates in both Tirupati and Chennai railway stations, extorting money from passengers without tickets.
GRP Tirupati Station House Officer G. Ratnamala registered cases of impersonation and aggravated cheating against Parvesh Shah and sent him to the Special Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court for Railways in Nellore for remand.
