Mangaluru: A youth was robbed of his silver bracelet and silver ring at knifepoint after stopping to ask for directions to Adyar Falls near Valachil Railway Gate on Tuesday.In a complaint, Prajwal S, stated that at 6.30 am he left on his motorcycle with his female friend riding pillion, to visit Someshwara Temple.
After visiting the temple, they decided to go to Adyar Falls.
At 9.45 am, when they reached Valachil Railway Gate, the complainant realized that he had lost his way. He asked some local people for directions to Adyar Falls, and they instructed him to take the road to the left.Following their directions, he rode about 200m. As he was still unsure of the route, he decided to ask for directions again. Seeing some people standing near a house situated on a slightly elevated area beside the road, he called out a person.
A man, aged about 30 years, who was outside the house, asked him to come up, and enquired about the matter.The complainant left his motorcycle and his friend on the roadside and walked up to the house. When he asked the man for directions to Adyar Falls, the man began abusing him, and angrily questioned why he wanted to go to Adyar Falls. When the complainant said that he would call police, the man allegedly took out a knife from his trouser pocket and threatened him.
He then demanded that the complainant hand over the silver bracelet and silver ring he was wearing, threatening to stab him if he refused.Fearing for his life, the complainant removed the silver bracelet and silver ring from his hand, and the accused forcibly took them. Thereafter, the complainant ran back to where he had parked his motorcycle, and called police by dialling 112. By the time the police were contacted, the suspect had fled from the spot. The estimated value of the stolen silver bracelet and silver ring is about Rs 3,000. A case has been registered at the Kankanady Town police station.
