A 32-year-old man allegedly upset that his wife had not come home for nearly 10 months shot himself dead with a country-made pistol, police said on Thursday.
The man who had consumed alcohol died on the spot around 11 pm on Wednesday in Punhera village, they said.
Locals told police that Dushyant had been under stress for the past several months due to some family issues. His wife had been staying at her parental home for nearly 10 months and had not returned, which reportedly disturbed him, they said.
On receiving information about the incident, a police team from Jalesar reached the spot and inspected the scene. A country-made pistol was recovered from the site.
The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination, Station House Officer Amit Kumar said.
Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, he added.
