Axel Tuanzebe sued Manchester United for over £1 million, alleging clinical negligence during a critical injury in July 2022. Neither party has commented.

In a shocking turn of events, Axel Tuanzebe has sued his former club Manchester United in a clinical negligence lawsuit.

As per reports from Sky Sports and The Times, the lawsuit centers on claims of clinical negligence, particularly regarding medical advice provided to Tuanzebe during a critical injury period—reportedly around July 2022.

The claim, said to have been lodged on July 9, is believed to exceed £1 million ($1.25M).

Manchester United has declined to comment officially on the litigation. Similarly, Tuanzebe’s legal team has not provided further public details.

Tuanzebe’s History With Manchester United

Tuanzebe left Manchester United after 17 years in 2023, as the defender was plagued by injuries during his time at Old Trafford.

He joined Manchester United’s academy at age eight and captained the club at every youth level before eventually making 37 senior appearances between 2017 and 2023.

His senior career was heavily impacted by injuries—including hip, hamstring, foot, and even a freak thumb accident—which disrupted his progress and limited his playing time.

Injuries continued to plague him until he joined Ipswich, where he made more than 40 appearances after establishing himself as their first-choice right-back and helped the club to promotion to the Premier League in 2023/24.

The DR Congo international joined Burnley last month on a free transfer after turning down the offer of a new deal at Ipswich.
