Deputy Commissioner of Mandya Kumar inspected the national highways passing through the district on Tuesday.
During his inspection of the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway passing through Mandya district, Mr. Kumar reviewed the underground drainage works adjoining the highway at Tubinakere in Srirangapatna taluk and asked the officials to complete the work at the earliest, while also instructing them to complete the unfinished drainage works along the highway in other parts of the district urgently.
Mr. Kumar issued directions for the installation of clear road signboards to guide both drivers and pedestrians near the exit from the highway at Tubinakere, which witnesses heavy vehicular congestion and leads to frequent accidents.
He instructed the officials to make proper lighting arrangements in all underpasses on the highway so that sufficient illumination is available for the smooth movement of vehicles. He said construction of pedestrian bridges for the convenience of the people from nearby villages should be completed at the earliest.
He pointed out that the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway (NH-275) was a prestigious national-level project that is expected to contribute to the transport as well as tourism sectors. He emphasised that the incomplete works of the highway should be completed at the earliest and proper road safety measures should be in place to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel.
