Manu Bhaker Secures Fourth Place at Asian Shooting Championship

Double Olympic medallist Indian shooter Manu Bhaker secured fourth place in the women’s 25m pistol competition at the Asian Shooting Championship on Monday.

Bhaker’s compatriot Esha Singh finished sixth in the eight-woman final with a score of 18 points. Bhaker shot 25, which was four points fewer than Vietnam’s bronze medallist Thu Vinh Trinh, who scored 29.

Chinese shooters Yueyue Zhang and Jiaruixuan Xiao clinched the gold and silver medals, respectively, with Zhang prevailing 4-3 in the shoot-off after both were tied at 39 points.

The Indian trio of Bhaker, Esha, and Simranpreet Kaur Brar claimed the team bronze with a combined score of 1749, placing them behind China and South Korea.

Esha led the women’s 25m pistol qualifications, finishing ahead of Bhaker and the two Chinese medallists Xiao and Zhang.

Earlier in the tournament, Bhaker, who won bronze medals in both the women’s 10m air pistol individual and team events, was fourth in the women’s 25m pistol qualification round after the precision stage, while Esha was second.
