Jamshedpur: In a span of three days, armed Maoists torched the mobile tower of a private telephone company for the second time in a row in West Singhbhum district. The fresh incident occurred in the wee hours on Tuesday at Bahda village under Chotanagra police station limits.A group of people of the banned outfit barged into the village in the early hours and they first warned the villagers to stay indoors. Subsequently, the rebels doused the panels, battery and other ancillary equipment of the tower with fuel and then set them on fire, police have learnt from the villagers.Also, the Maoists pasted posters at the spot threatening to avenge the arrests and killings of their squad members.“The extremists have carried out the act in desperation. Also, they have asked for stopping the combing operations. Security forces will continue to go ahead with the operations vigorously,” said SP Amit Renu.Further, in the posters, Maoists call for a vengeance week from October 8-14 and shut down on October 15 in Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, Assam and northern Chhattisgarh.Earlier on Sunday, Naxalites torched the genset of a private mobile company in Kolbhanga village in Jaraikela police station limits on October 11.
