Maran seeks assurance from Shah

DMK Member of Parliament Dayanidhi Maran on Sunday challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to give an assurance that the share of representation of Tamil Nadu in the Lok Sabha will not be reduced from the present 7.18%. during the next Delimitation exercise.

In a posting on X, he said the State did not want false promises that the number of seats will not go down. Mr. Maran recalled how Chief Minister M. K. Stalin had foreseen such a situation and had garnered the support of opposing Chief Ministers and political leaders on the issue of delimitation of Constituencies based on the population.
