Mario Kart World update adds Bob-omb Blast battle mode, major item balance changes, and gameplay fixes

The latest update for Mario Kart World brings various changes to the game, including changes to game modes, items, and race game mechanics. A new Battle mode called Bob-omb Blast is included in this update, thus bringing back a feature from previous Mario Kart series.

In addition to this, changes have been made to various items in the game, including changes to the Boomerang item. Various fixes have been included in this update, including fixes for issues experienced in different game modes such as Online Play, Wireless Play, Free Roam, Knockout Tour, and Time Trials. System-wide changes have been made in this update, unlike changes to a single feature in the game.

Bob-omb blast battle mode now available in Mario Kart World

Bob-omb Blast is now available as part of the Battle mode in Mario Kart World.

The game is played using Bob-ombs to gain points by hitting other players. The players are allowed to carry ten Bob-ombs at any given time. The distance that the Bob-ombs are thrown depends on the amount of time the L Button is being held down. The shorter the time, the shorter the distance the Bob-omb is thrown, and the longer the time, the further the Bob-omb is thrown. The mode is the same as the previous version of Bob-omb Blast, as seen in earlier Mario Kart games.

Mario and Bowser are the characters shown in the promotional material related to this mode. The game is the same as the standard Battle mode, where players are awarded points based on the number of times they are hit, rather than the race position.

Mario Kart World updates the boomerang item with a shorter range

The Boomerang item has been updated with reduced range and a limit on consecutive throws. These changes affect how the item functions during races.Previously, the Boomerang allowed repeated throws with a broader reach.

After the update, the number of successive throws is restricted, and its effective distance is shorter. This alters how frequently it can be used to hit opponents from a distance. The adjustment applies across gameplay modes where items are active, including Online Play and local multiplayer.

Mario Kart World bullet bill performance update

Bullet Bill has received performance changes in this update. Its lateral movement range has been increased, allowing smoother navigation along curved or branching sections of tracks.Speed adjustments have also been applied to specific courses, including Bowser’s Castle, Starview Peak, and Rainbow Road. These updates influence how the item behaves during automatic driving sequences. The changes allow Bullet Bill to follow shortcut paths more effectively after activation. The core function of the item remains unchanged, but its handling characteristics have been refined.

Mario Kart World item and collision updates

The probability of receiving items from item boxes has been adjusted.

This affects item distribution during races across different modes.Invincibility timing after spinning or crashing has also been modified. The duration now varies depending on the character and vehicle weight class. Heavier combinations receive longer invincibility periods.Collision interactions have been updated so that players are not crushed by objects such as Thwomps while spinning or crashing. At the same time, players can still be affected by lightning and Spiny Shells immediately after being crushed.

Course-specific fixes and adjustments

Several tracks have also been fixed for specific problems. For instance, in Rainbow Road, problems concerning gliding distance, results of shortcuts, and final ranking calculations have been fixed. Certain conditions that previously affected final ranking have also been fixed. In Bowser Castle, a problem concerning crashes when driving over lava with a Dash Mushroom has been fixed. Other tracks, such as Mario Circuit, Wario Stadium, Koopa Beach, Dino Dino Jungle, and Shy Guy Bazaar, also contain fixes concerning terrain, items, and player positioning.

These fixes concern problems such as falling through the ground, getting stuck, and respawning in unexpected places during certain actions.

Mode-specific and online improvements

Various corrections have been made in Knockout Tour, Online Play, and Wireless Play. These corrections include issues with displaying rankings, check points, and changing spectators.Various issues have been fixed regarding displaying items, visibility of characters, and transformation.
