In her acceptance speech, Hargitay expressed deep appreciation for her dedicated team and shared that the film was born from a longing to reconnect with her mother.
Recently, ‘SVU’ star Mariska Hargitay’s documentary series about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield, won the award for Best First Documentary Feature at the Critics' Choice Documentary Awards. Addressing the big win, the actress expressed her gratitude to all of the people involved in the project.
Not only that, but she also delved into how the movie came to life because she wanted to know her mother.
Mariska Hargitay reflects on directorial win at Critics' Choice Documentary Awards
Mariska Hargitay, who recently made her directorial debut with her film about her mom, titled ‘My Mom Jayne’, recently reflected on the film’s creation and its big win as well. The star, in an interview with People, delved into how the film was made through archival footage about her mother, though she and her team had to be extremely selective about what they put in the documentary.She further shared that, “I keep saying to everyone, I could have made five movies! There were so many just beautiful, tender, loving, surprising moments that I had with my family, and all of it couldn't fit in there.” As per the artist, however, the footage is not going to go to waste, as she is planning on making something special for hr family for the holidays.The actress lost her mother in a car accident in 1967 when she was 3, while her mother was only 34.

This marks the actress’s directorial debut, as well as her first win as a director. During her acceptance speech for the award for ‘My Mom Jayne’, the star delved into how happy she was that the world got to see the project. While expressing her thanks for her team, she shared that, “I had the most incredible team. My amazing producer, Trish Adlesic, whom I've known for 27 years. My editor, whom I felt I shared a soul with, JD Marlow.
And then I met this beautiful composer, Max Lichtenstein, and our producers. Everyone was so extraordinary, and it was such an incredible collaboration. My motto has always been, 'Best idea wins,' and it really took a village to make this movie, so I am humbled.”
