A 34-year-old married man and a 16-year-old girl ended their lives by consuming pesticide in a suspected suicide pact at a private lodge in Bhadrachalam town of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Friday.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when the lodge staff spotted the duo in an unconscious condition in their room. They were shifted to a local hospital, where the man was declared brought dead.
The girl died while undergoing treatment a few hours later. She hailed from Aswapuram mandal in the same district.
Another deceased was identified as Ravi from Kukunoor mandal in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
He was earlier booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by the police based on a complaint lodged by the minor girl’s parents in their native mandal, sources added.
The duo allegedly resorted to the extreme step in the private lodge, where they had checked in on Thursday evening.
The Bhadrachalam town police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of their death.
