Matthew Gaudreau’s wife, Madeline Gaudreau, is asking people to protect Charlie Kirk’s family after his death. On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Charlie Kirk, 31, was murdered.

Raising their three-year-old daughter and sixteen-month-old boy, his wife, Erika Frantzve, now has to live without her husband. Having lost her own husband in August 2024, Madeline said she understands the anguish of losing loved ones and urged people not to publish terrible films online.

On Thursday, September 11, Madeline Gaudreau, wife of late hockey player Matthew Gaudreau, posted a deeply moving Instagram update.

She said she has battled depression after Matthew and his brother, professional hockey player Johnny Gaudreau, who passed away in a bicycle crash in August,19, in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, 2024.

Both brothers were hit by an alleged drunk driver while cycling. Matthew was 29 and Johnny was 31. Four months later, Madeline gave birth to her son, Tripp. Johnny’s wife, Meredith, had also welcomed two children before the accident, daughter Noa in 2022 and son Johnny Jr.

in 2024. Eight months after Johnny’s death, she gave birth to their third child, Carter.

Madeline wrote, “As a mom walking alongside grief… my #1 priority is keeping sensitive information off the Internet to protect my son, my nieces, and nephews.” She asked followers not to reshare or comment on the graphic videos of Charlie Kirk’s death. She added, “Please, I beg you all do not reshare – view – comment on anything that will damage Charlie’s family or friends. Let’s help to protect them.”

Charlie Kirk remembered by family, Turning Point USA, and political leaders

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot by a gunman at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was pronounced dead at age 31. His wife Erika and their two young children are now left without him.Graphic clips of the shooting spread on social media shortly after the attack. Politicians also reacted. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!”
