Max Verstappen on embracing fatherhood

Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet welcomed their daughter Lily around the time of the Miami Grand Prix in May. Verstappen is also a loving stepfather to Piquet’s daughter Penelope from her previous relationship.Speaking after securing pole position at the Miami GP shortly after Lily’s birth, the 27-year-old dismissed any notion that fatherhood might affect his performance. He said, “Clearly, it didn’t make me slower being a dad, so that’s a positive. We can throw that out of the window for people mentioning it. I don’t really listen to these silly things—I just do my thing. There have been plenty of world champions with kids before me.

Honestly, I don’t know where this comes from.”Also Read: “Where’s the father?”: Fans question Max Verstappen’s absence as Kelly Piquet shares Lily’s new photo albumAfter enjoying a well-deserved break, Verstappen now turns his attention to his home race, the Dutch Grand Prix.
