The Andhra Pradesh Mobile Dispensing Units (MDU) Union has appealed to former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to reinstate the doorstep ration delivery system after the YSRCP returns to power.

The TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s decision to scrap the service from June 1 left over 18,000 MDU families jobless, the union members said and submitted a petition highlighting their plight and seeking the revival of the scheme.

The doorstep delivery system, introduced under Mr. Jagan’s leadership, ensured access to rations for the disabled, elderly, and remote tribal communities, while providing livelihoods to 9,260 operators and support staff. “This service was a lifeline for us and those we served. Its cancellation has caused immense hardship,” they said and urged Mr. Reddy to bring it back once the party regains power.
