NEW DELHI: Police have arrested four people, including the deceased man's wife in connection with the murder of an Indore man during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. The case, which initially appeared to be a disappearance, took a chilling turn after investigations revealed a murder conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by the victim’s spouse.According to Meghalaya director general of police (DGP) L R Bishnoi and senior officer I Nongrang, the wife is accused of hiring contract killers to eliminate her husband, identified as Raja. The couple had recently traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon.Three of the alleged assailants were arrested in Madhya Pradesh, while the wife surrendered to authorities. A fifth suspect is still absconding, and a search is ongoing.Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma confirmed the development in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case. Three assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, a female has surrendered, and the operation is still on to catch one more assailant.”Police said the arrests were based on technical evidence and coordinated efforts across state lines. The investigation is still under way to determine the full motive and whether more individuals were involved in the crime.
