Meghalaya murder case: 2 weapons used to kill husband, 1 missing, police say

In a fresh development in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, police have revealed that two weapons were used in the crime.

According to the Shillong Superintendent of Police (SP), two daos (sharp-edged weapons) were involved in the murder, though only one has been recovered so far. The second dao is believed to have been thrown into the same gorge where Raja's body was dumped.

Investigators confirmed that Raja was attacked three times, with each of the three accused delivering one blow. The murder, they said, took place in front of Sonam, who was present at the crime scene.

During the recreation of the sequence, Sonam admitted that she witnessed the killing. She had given a signal to the attackers while they were all in the parking area. As soon as Raja began bleeding after the first attack, Sonam reportedly screamed and stepped back.

All three accused helped throw Raja's body into the gorge. So far, evidence points to a love triangle as the primary motive behind the killing, but police are also exploring other possible angles.

Investigators further revealed that Sonam had destroyed her mobile phones, which are yet to be recovered. None of the accused had visited Shillong prior to the incident.

The fourth individual, Raj, who was earlier suspected of involvement, did not travel to Shillong. He worked for Sonam’s family and avoided the trip to prevent raising suspicion.
