The Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) on Monday entered into four agreements aimed at empowering the self help groups (SHGs) and their families. They were signed in the presence of MEPMA Director N. Tej Bharath.

The MoUs enable fast, secure and reliable digital transactions by facilitating seamless integration of UPI, QR code, and wallet payments, providing real-time transaction insights and reports, onboarding the SHGs through Paytm for Business app, and delivering enhanced customer experience and operational efficiency.

According to an official release, one of the MoUs was with the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), which is intended to establish Individual Business Channel outlets for IPPB across the State through selected SHGs. This will enhance banking access, generate employment opportunities, and promote inclusive economic development.

An MoU with NIRMAN organisation will promote economic empowerment of urban SHG women through the mobilisation of CSR funds, and seeks to extend technical support to enhance their capacities, improve market access, and create sustainable income generation opportunities.

The other two MoUs are with Wagons Skill Foundation, whose objective is to deliver structured financial literacy and digital education programme titled “Know Your Money” powered by HDFC Securities Limited, to the benefit of 5 lakh SHG members and other eligible groups, and Dalit Bahujan Resource Centre focused on socio-economic development of rag and hair pickers in eight urban districts.
