Mettur dam water release: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin inaugurates sluice gates of Stanley reservoir; 3,000 cusecs discharged

METTUR (SALEM): Tamil Nadu chief ministerMK Stalin opened the sluices of the Stanley reservoir in Mettur, Salem district on Thursday morning. Initially, 3,000 cusecs of water were released downstream towards the delta districts. The chief minister was accompanied by several ministers, including Durai Murugan (Water Resources), E V Velu (State Highway), MRK Pannerselvam (Agriculture), Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (School Education), Dr. M Mathivendhan (AD Welfare), and R Rajendran (Tourism). An official from the dam stated, “The water release will be increased to 10,000 cusecs later this evening,” adding that the volume would be further augmented in the coming days.
