Mickey Rourke opens up about eviction news amid being unable to pay his rent
While giving an official statement to E! News about the matter, Rourke revealed the reason behind why he ‘withheld’ USD 60,000 for his rent. He explained that the home in LA where he was staying had become unlivable and that his concerns were not being heard properly. His statement read, “The reason I stopped paying rent was that the living conditions in the house had become unacceptable. For months, there were serious problems that repeatedly went unaddressed despite my efforts to have them fixed.”Some of the other issues that he listed out include plumbing errors, multiple repair requirements, rodent issues, as well as many other things. He also added that “basic maintenance was never properly handled” in the property, even after he repeatedly complained about the same. He concluded that while the decision was not made lightly, he was unable to live in the home without his basic requests being met.

On December 29, it was reported that the idol had been served with an official eviction notice from his landlord, Goldie.
In court, the final judgment was filed in default in Goldie’s favor, with the court approving his request to evict Rourke. Initially, there had been no mention of the overdue rent that the celebrity owed Goldie. Soon after the news was shared online, Liya-Joelle Jones, an alleged member of Rourke’s management team as well as a friend, had started a fundraiser page for him. Later, Rourke shut this down and posted a video to his account, clarifying everything. In the video, he stated that “Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money— like in a charity—and that's not me. If I needed money, I wouldn't ask for no f***** charity. I'd rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.”
