NEW DELHI: An Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru was diverted to Bhopal on Tuesday after a suspected technical issue was detected mid-air, the airline said.Flight AI2487 landed safely in Bhopal, where engineers are carrying out precautionary checks expected to take some time for rectification, an Air India spokesperson said.“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen situation. Our ground team at Bhopal has been providing immediate assistance and support to the passengers. Every effort is being made to fly them to their destination at the earliest,” the spokesperson added.
The airline reiterated that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its top priority.In a separate incident, an Air India San Francisco–Delhi flight made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the crew suspected a technical snag mid-flight.Passengers were disembarked after landing and provided with hotel accommodation, meals, and assistance, the airline said in a statement posted on X.“AI174 of November 2, 2025, operating from San Francisco to Delhi, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia. With the help of our partners and local authorities, immediate assistance was extended to passengers,” Air India said. “Hotel arrangements have been made for their stay after clearing immigration procedures, while alternative arrangements are being made to fly them to Delhi at the earliest.
Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused by this diversion, which was undertaken in the interest of safety.”
